President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the local elections influenced the growth of coronavirus sickness rate in Ukraine. He stated this during a visit to the Ternopil region.
“I believe that if it were not for the local elections, we would have had less diseases. People always orient themselves towards the leader in any small towns and even villages, always if they see that even the chairman of a village or city, the mayor ... If the mayor comes out and says, I think that the authorities overestimate the complexity of the situation, I think there’s nothing to worry about, I believe that a city day can be held and gather 20-30,000 people each ... People see, they are guided and so they behave accordingly," the President said.
According to him, in Ukraine, unlike other countries, there was a fairly liberal quarantine. However, now the situation with the coronavirus in the country is one of the most difficult ones since the beginning of pandemic.
As we reported before, over the last 24 hours, 3,228 cases of infection with coronavirus were detected in Ukraine.
