If 10,000 Ukrainians infect with coronavirus until the end of April, it will be a normal rate for the country as NV reported citing Chief Sanitary Inspector Viktor Lyashko.

“The most pessimistic scenario, which we have discussed earlier, is 80%, then 50%, then 25% of the population who will get through coronavirus. If 25% of Ukrainians are infected, how many beds at the infectious units will we need? All of us have seen the example of Italy, Spain, China that 5% of infected people need intensive care. They are put on the artificial lung ventilator and to oxygen,” he said.

Lyashko noted that considering the infection of 25% population, in other words, if during the peak of infection, about 64,000 people are ill and all of them are hospitalized to the intensive care unit, the medics will be forced to allocate a bed to one of 12 hospitalized persons. He specified that only 5,000 beds are prepared for such patients in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, 3,764 cases of coronavirus infection were spotted in Ukraine as for today. 108 of them are lethal; 143 patients recovered.
