Press secretary of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky Yulia Mendel explained that she did not push, but stopped the journalist Serhii Andrushko when he tried to ask a question to the President in New York. Mendel reported this on Facebook.
According to her, the journalist was trying to work by invading Zelensky's "personal space", which is also his security zone.
"I encourage everyone to check the information. In the US, "No" for a journalist means inability to approach the first person. Otherwise, the journalist will be arrested. The media insists but does not rush. Because the first person's personal space is his/her safety", - Mendel wrote.
Mendel said it was especially important to be aware of "after 2017 when a killer who was claiming to be a journalist of well-respected publishing house shot a famous volunteer in Kyiv."
"Maybe my requests do not hold up to high standards. But Serhii Andrushko is not the most gallant gentleman. The video shows that I did not push and did not rush forward, but stopped him. If we want civilized behavior - let's not go for civilized "No" delegation for the sake of a beautiful picture", - she stressed.
Mendel noted that there had been already been a spread of false information. "Now they write that she beat the journalist twice bigger than her", - she added.
