Minister of Human Resources of Hungary Zoltan Balog appealed with the official letter to Minister of Education of Ukraine Liliia Grynevych and asked for a personal meeting to discuss the new ‘Law on Education’ as Radio Liberty reported.
This meeting will allow the sides to discuss the concerns of the Hungarian authorities towards the new Ukrainian education law.
Official Budapest insists on the reconsideration of the language article of the law because the Hungarian authorities think that it violates the rights of the 150 000 people of Hungarian national minority in Zakarpattia.
Zoltan Balog will take part in the opening of the academic year in the Hungarian-language Ferenc Rakoczi II Zakarpattia Hungarian Institute in Beregovo, Zakarpattia region. Also, Liliia Grynevych will visit it as the honored guest.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law on the education that starts the reform in Ukraine. The law provides that the language of the educational process is the state language.
Romania and Poland also claimed about their solicitude due to the possible violation of the rights of the national minorities.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine claimed that 'Law on Education' does not derogate from the rights of the representatives of the national minorities who live in Ukraine.
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andry Paruby passed the 'Law on Education' to the sign of the Ukrainian president on September 19.
