Autonomy for Hungarians in the Transcarpathian region is impossible. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bondar on his Facebook page.
"Unfortunately, Mr. Ambassador does not understand the clear, repeated and extremely official explanations that there can not be any autonomy in Transcarpathia," Bondar expressed regret.
He also noted that constructive proposals on the language issue also remain unanswered.
"It's parallel reality," concluded Bondar.
Second Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Olena Zerkal also commented on the statement of the Hungarian Ambassador.
"We have already planned a conversation with the Hungarians about the fact that the ambassador exceeds his powers in Ukraine," she said.
We remind you that yesterday the Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Erno Keskeny stated that he does not see anything wrong with the autonomy of Transcarpathia, but now the issue is not raised due to the situation in Donbas.
The ambassador provided South Tyrol in Italy, where the German national minority lives as the example. The teaching is held in German and the state Italian language is taught on the method of the foreign language. Herewith, in the case of Ukraine and taking into account the situation in the east of the country, the demand for the autonomy is out of the question.
‘Our politicians say that there is nothing bad in the autonomy, it is an acceptable model in the EU. But the Hungarians of Zakarpattia who are the citizens of Ukraine also take into account the situation in the east and nobody demands the autonomy now’, Keskeny emphasized.
