On the night of December 23, a fire broke out at the ‘Prostokvashyno’ hotel in the village of Yablunytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk region. One person died. This is stated in the press office of Ivano-Frankivsk region State Emergency Service.
"The Fire and Rescue Division of Vorokhta village was the first to have appeared at the site. The distance from its nearest unit to the place of fire was about 25 kilometers," the statement said.
The staff managed to evacuate the residents of the hotel before the arrival of the fire and rescue units.
A human body was found during the search and rescue works inside the burnt hotel.
At 6.12 a.m., the fire was localized on the area of 1,500 sq. m., and at 7 a.m. it was extinguished. 11 units of fire and rescue equipment and 47 staff members were involved in the operation.
The cause of the fire is still being established.
