Armed man hijacks bus with hostages in Lutsk

In the center of Lutsk, an unknown man hijacked the suburban bus "Berestechko - Krasnylovka" and took 20 people hostage. Police blocked the city center and announced an operation plan “Hostage”.

What is known at the moment

Traces of shots can be seen on the bus. The man has already set out his requirements, negotiations are being conducted by phone.

The terrorist has weaponry and explosives.

He posted a short video online right before hijacking the bus. The criminal introduced himself as "Maksim Plokhoi". His pages on social networks have already been found. His demands are published on Twitter, however, it is difficult to call them clear. Speaking in short - he is dissatisfied with Ukraine’s political system.

He also demanded that the number of Ukrainian politicians/officials record a video acknowledging that they were "terrorists in law."

According to Volyn News, "Maksym Plokhoi" is a pseudonym. His real name is Maksym Stepanovych Kryvosh, he is from Dubna.

The journalists also found out that the terrorist had been to places of imprisonment and had even undergone involuntary treatment in a psychiatric hospital.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has already reacted to the situation. He stated that he had taken the case under personal control.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has already flown to Lutsk.

Information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Art. 147 of the Criminal code of Ukraine ("Hostage-taking").  

According to the head of the Volyn police, the terrorist does not seem to be intoxicated.

THE TERRORIST SAID THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER EXPLOSIVE. IT IS PLANTED ELSEWHERE AND MIGHT BE ACTUATED REMOTELY.

What is unknown at this time

The exact number of people on the bus. According to some data, there are 20 hostages. The State Security Service reports a little bit less - around ten.

It is also unclear whether there are any victims or not.

Plohoi himself stated that there were a lot of people on the bus, including children and pregnant women.
