Holy Fire descended in the Jerusalem church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is considered a sanctity for believers, and its appearance is called a miracle.
The fire symbolizes the exit of the "True Light" from the Holy Sepulchre, that is, the resurrected Jesus Christ.
The delegation of the Kyiv Patriarchate will deliver the Holy Fire from Jerusalem to Ukraine today at 8 a.m.
We recall, Holy Fire comes down every year on Saturday before the Orthodox Easter in the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Patriarch of Jerusalem personally commits the service of convergence of the Holy Fire, in the chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. Then, Christians spread fire with candles and special lamps all over the world.
Earlier Pope Francis mentioned Ukraine in his speech in the Vatican on April 21, when Catholic Christians celebrate the feast of the Resurrection of Christ. This is reported by BBC.
"May this Easter bring consolation to the residents of eastern Ukraine suffering from the ongoing conflict ... May the Lord encourage humanitarian aid initiatives and those aimed at achieving a lasting peace," said the Pope of Rome.
In his speech, he also mentioned other conflicts and crises in the world, particularly in Syria, Libya, Israel and Palestine, Sudan and South Sudan, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and other countries.
The Pontiff also condemned the attacks in Sri Lanka, where several explosions occurred in churches during Easter services. He expressed his condolences to the Christian community of the country.
It is noted that thousands of people from different countries gathered to listen to the Pope's Easter speech on St. Peter's Square in Rome. The speech was broadcasted live to millions of viewers around the world.
