The WHO noted that the world community needs to look for extra measures to restrict the spread of the coronavirus.
“The planet was nowhere close to the levels of immunity required to stop this disease. People should not live in hope of herd immunity being our salvation. Right now, that is not a solution," WHO emergencies director Michael Ryan said.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 21.8 million people infected with the coronavirus; about 775,000 people died.
As of August 19, 1,967 new cases were confirmed in Ukraine over 24 hours. 96,403 people got sick with coronavirus in Ukraine since the disease reached the country. 2,144 passed away, and 49,737 recovered.
