The First Vice Speaker of Ukrainian parliament, the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup Iryna Herashchenko intends to demand from the OSCE to visit Ukrainian hostages who are in captivity of militants. She wrote about this on her Facebook page.
According to her, the most acute issue appeared after it became known that the Ukrainian woman Lyudmyla Surzhenko, who until recently was in LNR captivity, was tortured.
"Lyudmyla was tortured, and tomorrow it will be the subject of a tough conversation during the skype conference on hostages in the format of the Minsk Humanitarian Group, and I will require the OSCE coordinator to visit Ukrainian hostages in the occupied territories that the ICRC and other international organisations can't visit. It's not right that during the entire time of the Minsk Group's work the OSCE representative visited Ukraine's hostages only once, and saw only a few of them, not all, " she wrote.
Herashchenko added that "all facts of torture against Ukrainians by militants should be condemned by both Ukrainian and international courts." She also expressed her hope that a criminal case against the militants was already opened on the fact of illegal detention and torture of Lyudmyla Surzhenko.
