Healthcare Ministry reminds on initiative to abolish list of works banned for women

Suprun said that the old decree contradicts the legislation

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine held the meeting where the abolishment of the decree that includes the list of more than 450 works that are banned for the women was discussed. The official website of the Healthcare Ministry reported this.

‘What kind of country do we want to see – the country of restrictions or the country of possibilities? If Ukraine really strives for being European state that it should stop to divide the work for men and women. Everyone has the right to be what he or she wants to be and to unlock the potential of the profession that is after the person’s heart’, the acting Minister of Healthcare Ulana Suprun claimed.

The Ministry thinks that the list contradicts the demands of the EU legislation, international liabilities of Ukraine on the gender policy of the Constitution.

It is noted that the Ministry of Social Policy and Ministry of Energy and Coal industry already coordinated this initiative with the Ministry of Healthcare.

Earlier, the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine initiated the abolishment of the decree #256 that prohibits women to work in 450 kinds of work.
