Healthcare Minister Maksym Stepanov spoke about the condition under which a full lockdown can be introduced in Ukraine. According to him, with the current ratio of hospitalized patients , this can happen if the number of daily recorded Covid-19 cases exceeds 30,000. He told about this on the air of the Inter TV channel.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, when such a number of patients are recorded every day in Ukraine, the medical system will not withstand the load and its lockdown will occur.
“For us, the main thing is the number of people who are hospitalized. If we talk about the percentage of patients admitted to the hospital, I think that this (a lockdown of the medical system) will occur if more than 30 thousand per day in a certain period ."
Maksym Stepanov noted that as of this morning, there are 27,902 cases of Covid-19 in hospitals.
"For us, this is the most critical and serious indicator," the minister stressed.
As we reported earlier, Ahmed al-Mandari, the WHO Department Director for Eastern Mediterranean is convinced that the worldwide situation with Covid-19 is going to get even worse in the future.
He reiterated that as the winter comes, it does not affect the increasing number of infections. Only behaviour of people changes; they spend more time in closed spaces than they do in summer. And that improves the rate of the spread of infection.
Al-Mandari added that none of the four currently developed and tested vaccines have been approved yet.
