Healthcare Minister Maksym Stepanov believes that the funding of medical branch in Ukraine's 2021 state budget is currently insufficient. He said so on a briefing on December 16.
"The budgeted costs are not enough to fund the medicine", said the official.
He expressed his opinion that the medicine in Ukraine has been always funded based on what remained in the budget, not based on the first necessity principle.
Stepanov also stated that Ukraine could suffer a bad loss of assets unless the government raises salaries for doctors.
"Yesterday, the state budget for 2021 was approved. Our offers that the Ministry had filed, proceeding from their accounts were not taken into consideration. Yes, we see an increase in the total amount of costs to fund the medical branch, but the increase does not mean it is enough to supprot the work of our healthcare system", Stepanov said.
