Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxym Stepanov said that private laboratories will provide their equipment for free testing of Ukrainians for coronavirus. Free collection of samples for analysis will be carried out by mobile teams and hospitals. Stepanov spoke about this during a briefing on October 10.

“Our mobile team or hospital, which collects samples from a person, will transfer them to private laboratories, which will carry out testing using appropriate laboratory equipment ... This does not mean that now private laboratories will start doing these tests for people on the street. We simply will not be able to control this," Stepanov said.

Out of 37 000 hospital beds that are available in Ukraine, 20 000 are currently occupied, and the situation with the coronavirus raises concerns in the Ministry of Health. This was earlier stated by the head of the Ministry Maxym Stepanov.

We cannot give all the beds for COVID-19 patients. We can take only 30% of the total beds, because we have heart attacks, we have strokes, we have childbirth. We can take more hospitals from Ukrzaliznytsia and the National Academy of Sciences", said Stepanov.

According to him, in total, the Ministry of Health plans to increase the number of hospital beds to 51 thousand.

On October 3, Stepanov reported that 16 076 people are in hospitals with coronavirus. This means that the occupancy of hospitals in Ukraine is about 53.9%.
