Handziuk’s video message: Looking bad but better than justice in Ukraine

Adviser of Kherson’s Mayor, public figure Kateryna Handziuk recorded her first video record after the attack. The video message was published on Facebook.

‘Yes, I know that I am looking bad. At least I am being cured. Ukrainian doctors treat me well. I know for sure that I am looking much better than the justice in Ukraine. Because no one is treating it (Ukraine's justice system - Ed.),’ Handziuk claimed.

The public figure said she did not know who planned the attack on her and the other public activists in Ukraine.

‘Who ordered all these people? Who covers them? Why so many investigations are being sabotaged? Why do we need to tolerate it, while the most active of us are killed or maimed?’ she asked.

She recalled that 40 attacks on activists were performed over the year, and none of the clients were named.

As it was reported earlier, four suspects in the attempted murder of Adviser of Kherson Mayor Kateryna Handziuk pleaded guilty. 

Kateryna Handziuk, Adviser of Kherson's Mayor was attacked near her place. The attacker soaked her with acid, the woman was hospitalized.  

30 percent of her body was burned: her head, arms, legs, chest, and left eye.

Suspected in the attack was detained on August 3. This is Mykola Novikov, previously detained for robbing and illegal weapons handling. He is a member of one of the criminal organizations in the Kherson region. According to Ukrainian MP Anton Herashchenko, obviously, the detainee was fulfilling someone's order. Whereas, Herashchenko added that they approximately know who was the proponent.
