The court overruled the prosecutors’ application to extend a preventive measure for the Chairman of Kherson Region Council Vladyslav Manger who is suspected of organizing the murder of Kherson Mayor’s Advisor Kateryna Handziuk, as Hromadske reported referring to Manger’s lawyer Oleksandr Shadryn.
According to the lawyer, such a decision means that the bail amounting $96,000 remains a termless restrictive measure. Besides, Manger has to come to the meetings with the investigator, but his ankle bracelet will be taken away. He will have his foreign passport back.
Viktoriya Kalita confirmed the relevant information.
As we reported earlier, Kateryna Handziuk was known for her activity in fighting corruption in the local government in Kherson. On November 4, it became known that she deceased at age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July 2018. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment, multiple organ failure, and chemical burns.
In February, the investigation into Handziuk's death led to a possible organizer of the murder. The suspect is Vladyslav Manger, the head of Kherson regional council. On February 11, Manger was served with charge papers in Handziuk’s murder. In his turn, Manger said that he would not escape from the country due to suspicion of organizing the murder of Handziuk.
The court ruled to arrest Manger until March 3 with the possibility of bail. However, later lawyer Dmitry Ilchenko has posted a bail for his client. On February 19, Vladyslav Manger started to wear the digital bracelet.
