September 23, law enforcement officers registered an unauthorized interference in the work of the official website of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU). This was reported by the NPU’s press service on Facebook.
"In this regard, inaccurate information was disseminated through a number of websites of regional police departments," the statement said.
The hacker attack took place at 11:45 a.m. Kyiv time. In particular, the attackers spread information about an alleged accident at the Rivne Nuclear power plant due to which the evacuation of local residents from the city of Varash had begun.
Currently, the National Police's website is temporarily closed.
"Our specialists are working on troubleshooting. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience," reads the message.
