The Greek Orthodox Church today officially began the Eucharistic communion with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). Orthodoxia.info reported this.
The joint service of the Primate of the Greek Church Ieronymos with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was held on October 19. For the first time, the Greek churchmen mentioned the name of the OCU Primate Epifaniy - together with the Primates of other local churches.
It is indicated that such a reference is the official recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine by the Greek Church.
On January 8, 2019, the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church did not recognize the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, but referred this issue to the highest administrative body, the Council of the Hierarchy.
During the Unification Council on December 15, 2018, Metropolitan Epifaniy was elected Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. On January 6, he received Tomos about autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine from the hands of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
