The Greek Ministry of Health has announced that it will extend the current restrictions imposed to stop the wave of coronavirus infection by a week, until January 23 as Ekathimerini reported.

The announcement was made after the recommendation of a group of experts who advised the government.

The restrictions include closing all entertainment establishments at midnight, no standing customers are allowed, and a maximum of six people can sit at a table. Half of workers in the government and public sector will have to work from home, and visitors in supermarkets and public transport will have to wear high-security masks (KN95/FFP2) or double masks.

The current measures were announced in late December and were implemented on Jan. 3. They are due to expire on January 16.

Earlier it was reported that Greece had strengthened the rules for entry into the country. The country's authorities have imposed requirements for all tourists to provide the result of PCR-testing for coronavirus within 48 hours after entry into the country. Tourists will need to fill out a special form PLF 24 hours before crossing the border.
