The Ukrainian Cabinet has assigned almost 107 million U.S. dollars from the coronavirus fund - for the needs of the Healthcare Ministry. This became known during the session of the Cabinet.
Part of the sum will be directed to buy personal protection devices - masks and gloves. Some of this money will go to provide readiness and timely response to the lab centers and other state-run facilities.
Two million dollars were allocated for purchases of Remdesivir, the drug to combat the symptoms of Covid-19.
Previously, the Cabinet approved an increase of salaries for the military, medics, and other staff workers involved in fighting Covid-19.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal claimed that the quarantine in this country would be extended until the end of the year.
As of October 11, Ukraine occupied 11th place in the world rating in the number of cases of coronavirus infection as Worldometers reported. In Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the occupancy of hospitals for patients with Covid-19 exceeded 90%.
Now about 37,000 hospital beds for Covid-19 patients are allocated in Ukraine. The Ministry of Health announced that it plans to increase the number of hospital beds to 51,000.
Kyiv, Odesa, and Mariupol are preparing to deploy additional large hospitals for patients with Covid-19 in case of an overload of hospitals in the first and second waves of the coronavirus epidemic.
