International Children's Day is celebrated annually on June 1. It was founded in Paris in November 1949 by a decision of the Women's International Democratic Federation Congress, first celebrated in 1950.
The celebration of Children's Day was introduced in order to draw the attention of the general public, organizations and government agencies to issues aimed at the practical implementation of measures to ensure the welfare of children around the world.
The symbol of this holiday is a green flag, which depicts our planet, around which are children's figures of different races and nationalities.
In Ukraine, Children's Day has been celebrated since 1998.
