The ceremony of awarding the Fifth National Golden Whirligig Film Award took place on June 12, during which the names of the winners in 23 nominations were announced. The hosts of the event were Daria Tregubova and Oleh Panyuta. Valentyn Vasyanovych's film Atlantis collected six statuettes.
According to the award's website, director Roman Balayan received an honorary award for his contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema.
Natalka Vorozhbyt was awarded the Opening of the Year award.
The winner of the Best Makeup nomination was Maria Petrovska (Inglourious Serfs). Halyna Otenko and Maria Kero received the award for the best costume design for their work on the Toloka. The winners in the Best Sound nomination were named Ihor Barba and Boris Peter with the V. Silvestrov film.
The award for the best editing was given to Valentyn Vasyanovych, and the winner in the Best Work of a Production Designer nomination was Vladlen Odunenko, who worked on the Atlantis film.
Anton Baibakov received the award for the best music with the Cherkasy film. The jury saw the best visual effects in the Atlantis film, created by Oleksiy Moskalenko.
Actors of the Bad Roads film Ihor Koltovsky and Oksana Voronina received statuettes for the best supporting male role and the best supporting female role, respectively.
The Best Short Animated Film was History of Ukraine in 5 Minutes (directed by Sashko Danylenko). The film Bullmastiff (directed by Anastasia Bukovska) was awarded the prize for the best short feature film (named after Minzyanov).
The prize for the best screenplay was awarded to Natalka Vorozhbyt and her Bad Roads film. The winner in the Best Cinematography nomination was Valentyn Vasyanovych. The Best Song was Pola-la-la by Dakh Daughters and Sofia Baibakova, which sounded in the Victor_Robot movie.
The winners in the new nomination - Best Game Series - were the authors of To Catch the Kaidash.
The best documentary was The Earth Is Blue As An Orange film. Yuriy Kulinich from Bad Roads film won the award for the best male role, and Marina Koshkina from The Forgotten film - for the best female role.
Valentyn Vasyanovych was also awarded the Best Director's Work (named after Ilyenko)" prize.
The Infernal Khorugv or Cossack Christmas film was awarded the Audience Award. Most viewers voted for this tape.
Valentyn Vasyanovych's Atlantis film became the best film of the V National Golden Whirligig Film Award.
For the first time, the film was awarded for accessibility for the visually or hearing impaired at the Golden Whirligig. The award for the best available film from the Fight for Right organization of people with disabilities was awarded to the film The Forgotten.
Earlier, members of the Ukrainian Film Academy have identified nominees for the Fifth National Golden Whirligig Film Award.
