According to the latest figures, 6.55 million injections of the vaccine were administered per day in the world.
"The biggest vaccination campaign in history is underway. More than 205 million doses have been administered across 92 countries, according to data collected by Bloomberg. The latest rate was roughly 6.55 million doses a day," the message reads.
In the U.S., more Americans have now received at least one dose than have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began. So far, 63.1 million doses have been given. In the last week, an average of 1.33 million doses per day were administered.
As we reported earlier, the Israeli government agreed to purchase Russian-made Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine for Syria. The vaccine will be purchased as part of a deal that secured the release of an Israeli woman held captive in Damascus.
Last week, a young Israeli woman was released from custody in Syria after being arrested for illegally crossing Syria. According to the official version, she became the beneficiary of a simple prisoner exchange. The Israeli government said that in return for her freedom, she had been exchanged for two Syrian shepherds captured by the Israelis.
The woman was released after Israel secretly agreed to finance a shipment of Sputnik V vaccine for Syria.
