Photos that allegedly were taken at the time of forest fires in Australia are gaining momentum all over the world. For example, some of the most popular are photos from space and a photo of a girl with a koala in her arms against a burning mainland. These are fake photos. SBS reported this.
Many users took the visualization of forest fires in Australia as a real NASA photo. The singer and actress Rihanna, who has more than 95 million followers on Twitter alone, shared this image.
To stop the spread of this photo, Facebook marked it as “fake.”
No less popular is the photo with a girl on the lake, who is holding a koala in her hands, whole the opposite shore is engulfed in fire. However, the original photo was found and it turned out that this image was actually made with the help of photo editors.
On the original photo, the girl is really standing knee-deep in the lake, however, the sky against the background is clear and there is no fire at all. In addition, she does not hold a koala in her hands.
The authors of the photo said they wanted to draw attention to the fires.
Earlier, it was reported that large-scale forest fires continued in Australia, as a result of which 24 people have already died.
Nearly 200 fires were burning across the country, but most of the attention is paid to fires in New South Wales. The fire destroyed more than 1,200 houses and burnt out millions of hectares of land.
The Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov announced Ukraine was ready to send about 200 specially trained rescuers of the State Emergency Service to fire-engulfed Australia.
