In the districts where over 200 new cases per 100,000 people are observed during seven days, the new restrictions will start to act that suppose the reduction of the range of allowed movement up to 15 km from the place of residence – without a valid reason. According to Merkel, the task is to reduce the number of infection cases by up to 50 per 100,000 of the population. It is highly important considering the spread of new mutations of coronavirus.
“Due to this fact, we should be especially careful,” the chancellor said adding that the issue is about a ‘new and unusual’ situation.
The current restrictions extended for three weeks until January 31, including retail chains and restaurants. The meetings are possible with a person living in a different household or a circle of relatives living in one household.
Kindergartens and schools will remain closed. In case of necessity, emergency care of children is possible; the education will take place in a distance regime. Moreover, the parents will be able to take a paid vacation to take care of the children.
It is necessary to hold a test during the entrance from the risk zones.
The strict lockdown acts in Germany from December 16, 2020. Initially, it was planned to hold it until January 10, 2021.
Earlier, on December 26, 2020, the vaccination has started in Germany. The vaccination was provided to a few dozens of inhabitants of homes for the elderly in Saxony-Anhalt state.
