The head of the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany Halger Muench warned of the existence of a threat of major terrorist attacks in the country after the attack on the visitors of the Christmas market in Berlin on Monday. It is reported by TASS with reference to Reuters.
"We can expect substantial attacks soon after such an attack in the future", said Halger Muench.
Recall that in evening of December 19 the truck drove into a crowd at a Christmas market in the center of Berlin. 12 people were killed, 48 were injured.
The truck drove through the territory of the market about 80 m. Police later reported that the truck had Polish numbers, its driver tried to escape from the scene and was arrested some time later, and the passenger died on the spot. Berlin Police later reported that law enforcement officers arrested the wrong man, and perpetrator of terrorist act is on the loose and may be armed.
