Garbage removal works resumed in Lviv. 112 Ukraine TV channel correspondent reported that. The information about the beginning of garbage removal works was confirmed by the LLC AVE Umwelt Ukraine, which provides the services on gathering, sorting, recycling, disposing rubbish in Lviv and a number of other cities.
Lviv State City Administration reported that Oleh Synyutka, the Head of the City Administration, had a meeting on this problem this morning, on June 23.
Note that Lviv Regional State Administration applied to the Lviv City Council to delegate garbage removal from the city. It was reported earlier that the Lviv Regional State Administration claimed their readiness to scavenge the city within 2- days and continue removing garbage on the permanent basis.
Earlier it was reported that Lviv authorities requested the Cabinet of Ministers to declare city zone of environmental emergency. Construction of the new waste disposal plant may be completed only after 2 years.
Now there are over 8.5 tons of garbage in Lviv at the moment.
Lviv is suffering from the trash blockade. Every day the city produces about 600 tons of waste, but there is no place to export them. More than a third of the urns are overcrowded. After the fire at trash dump near Grybovychi village (near Lviv) in last year, the city was forced to take out the garbage to other landfills, which eventually refused to accept the waste.
The Lviv city state administration fails to move the garbage out of the city in good time; since summer 2016, it became even more complicated, due to the large fire at a waste deposit in Hrybovychi village, lying close to Lviv. That badly complicated things, as the garbage keeps piling up and there is not much place to move it to.
