Workers of the State Security Service (SBU) of Ukraine detained an agent of Russian special service, the FSB; he was going to conduct a terrorist act on a critical infrastructure object. The operation took place in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region. Press office of the SBU reported this on July 8.
The Ukrainian citizen was recruited by the Russian special service; he was apprehended as he tried to withdraw cash for a sabotage act. He also wanted to take two RPG-22 grenade launchers with grenades for it - "from a stash prepared by the enemy", reads the message.
Counter-intelligence found out that the culprit was supposed to conduct a terrorist act, blowing up ammonium tanks on the premises of JSC "Siverodonetske Union Azot". The damage to tanks could result in environmental disaster and fatalities, experts say.
Ukraine's special service claimed that the detainee lived in Rovenky, the town in the occupied area of Luhansk region. He has been fighting against Ukrainian forces in Donbas since 2014; later, the FSB recruited him.
