The hostage incident in Paris is over, as the police arrested the assailant. Gerarde Colombe, the French interior minister posted this on Twitter.
According to him, the captives are safe now. 'I welcome the professionalism of the police and the rescue teams', he said.
Le Figaro specified that there were two hostages, not three - something that the police reported earlier.
The French outlet reported that the attacker, disguised as a delivery man captured several hostages at Petites-Ecuries, located in the northern part of the city. He poured them with gas, threatening to kill them if the authorities would not let him contact the Iranian embassy.
While the police negotiated with the malefactor, one of the hostages managed to escape. Another man, whom the attacker wounded but never held captive, was successfully evacuated.
The police do not treat the incident as the terrorist act.
