European Minister of Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian visited the Exclusion Zone in Chornobyl. The Ambassador of France to Ukraine, Isabel Dumont, said this on Twitter.

"Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian visited Chornobyl in order to inspect the completion of the construction of the Arc, which now covers the destroyed reactor thanks to the special decision of French engineering group Groupe Bouygues and VINCI," Dumont wrote.

The French industrial group Bouygues and the French construction company VINCI, as part of the joint venture NOVARKA, carried out work on the design, construction and commissioning of a new safe Confinement over the 4th reactor of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, on which the accident occurred on April 26, 1986.

Confinement is a multifunctional complex for transforming the Shelter object into an environmentally safe system. It consists of 19 substructures, including the main one - a protective structure in the form of an arch with a special double sheathing, as well as special foundations, western and eastern walls, non-standard bridge cranes, multifunctional ventilation system, technological complex with areas for decontamination, fragmentation and packing of radioactive materials, and etc.
