The law on energy and climate, which sets environmental and climatic emergency, came into force in France as DW informs.

It is reported that the law expects measures on achieving of country's carbon neutrality until 2050.

Until 2030, France will have to reduce fossil fuel consumption by 40%. The last coal-fired power stations should be closed in the country in 2020.

The law also provides an active extension of biogas and a gradual program renewal of France's housing sector energy supply.
