France will open its borders for passengers from England on Wednesday after the ban introduced due to the new coronavirus strain, as Reuters reported.
It is noted that the agreement was reached between the UK and France toward the permission for EU citizens to return home with a negative test for Covid-19. The test should be held not later than 72 hours before the crossing of the border.
The representatives of the UK authorities noted that they will start to hold testing but it will take some time.
The lorry drivers are asked not to visit the Kent region where the railway and ferries are used often.
Earlier, the European Commission recommended refusing from the insignificant travels to the UK and back. However, the commission also stated that people returning home should be allowed to do it if they pass the test for coronavirus or will stay in isolation for 10 days.
However, the border control is regulated by the national policy and each EU country might have its own rules.
The World Health Organization urged Europeans to strengthen approaches to control and prevent the spread of the virus due to the appearance of a new strain of coronavirus in some European countries.
Besides, the new variant of coronavirus is observed in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Australia.
Over 40 countries in the world banned travelers from the UK from entry to their territories due to concerns about the spread of a new coronavirus strain. Spain, India, Hong Kong, and Pakistan are some of the last countries that banned the admission of flights from the UK. The list of countries that banned the entrance from the UK includes Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, and others. Some of the bans already act; others will start to act today.
Meanwhile, the WHO stated that the vaccine against Covid-19 should be effective against the new coronavirus strain.
