Lanzhou, a Chinese city with a population of about four million people, has been closed for lockdown because six people have been infected with the coronavirus, NDTV reports.

"China placed a city of four million people under lockdown on Tuesday, ordering them not to leave home except in emergencies, in a bid to eradicate a Covid cluster of just a few dozen confirmed cases," the message reads.

Buses and taxis have stopped working in the city. In addition, local media reported that today more than 70 trains, including on key routes, and air services have been suspended.

The report also states that in Beijing, where three cases of Covid-19 were detected, tourist traffic was stopped and the departure of citizens was restricted. 23,000 residents of a residential complex in the Changin district are also in quarantine because of the nine cases of the disease. Authorities have banned any crowds. Mass testing for Covid-19 continues.

The Chinese authorities are trying to completely eliminate the coronavirus for the 2022 Olympic Games, which will take place in 100 days.

As it was reported, during the last days 46 people got sick with Covid, 19 recovered, and no fatalities are recorded in China. In total, about 97,000 people became ill during the coronavirus pandemic.
