Four Hasidim pilgrims who stay at the border of Ukraine with Belarus got infected with coronavirus, as Suspilne reported citing Head of Red Cross in Chernihiv region Oksana Mudra.
She specified that her Belarusian colleague from the Red Cross provided her with such information. They also reported that infected Hasidim refused from the hospitalization in Belarus and stay on the border near the checkpoint.
Oksana Mudra also reported that on the night of September 16 to September 17, the representatives of the National Red Cross Committee and the rapid-response team in protective suits passed 60 hygiene kits, 60 warm blankets and 60 liters of water to Hasidim. According to her, the Hasidim needed such amount of supply.
Besides, 4,000 packs with special food from the Jewish community of Uman were passed to the Hasidim. According to Mudra, the pilgrims started to sing and dance when they got the food.
About 1,000 Hasidim pilgrims try to enter the territory of Ukraine, despite the restriction for entrance of foreigners.
Later, the Novi Yarylovychi checkpoint in the Chernihiv region was closed.
Besides, the office of the President of Ukraine appealed to the Belarusian authorities with a request to stop the spread of encouraging statements about the possibility of crossing the Ukrainian border among Hasidic pilgrims stuck on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
Meanwhile, Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Water of Israel Ze’ev Elkin asked the Hasidim pilgrims who got stuck at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border to return home.
