Forest fires in Luhansk region: Separate fire seats still lit, works continue

Fire rescue teams continue to extinguish the flames in the Luhansk region's forest. As of early July 13, there are still separate fire seats moldering in there, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported.

No open fire is observed in the area of Borovske forestry; 714 people and 160 vehicles are involved in the works.

An operative HQ is working on site. The operative group of State Emergency Service and life support points are there, too.

Previously, at a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on the appeal of the Ukrainian side, security guarantees were immediately established to eliminate fires. Thus, it will be possible to attract civilian aircraft near the demarcation line to extinguish fires in the Luhansk region. Deputy Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the contact group Oleksiy Reznikov stated this.

Earlier, a large forest fire in the Luhansk region broke out on July 7. Later, the fire spread to residential buildings, the population was evacuated.

Due to the fitful wind in the afternoon, a few fireplaces of the forest fires (crown) occurred and they spread over the forest to the residential sector of Vovche and Smolyanynovo villages, Novoaidar area.
