Today, on November 21, Arbitration Tribunal of the International Court of Justice will hold the first hearings on Ukraine's claim against Russia on the immunity of three Ukrainian naval vessels and 24 members of their crew in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. This was previously reported by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Olena Zerkal on her Facebook page.
"While "Nikopol", "Berdyansk" and "Yany Kapu" are heading home to Odesa, the Foreign Ministry team heads to Hague, where the first hearing of the arbitration tribunal in the case of immunity of three Ukrainian naval vessels and 24 members of their crew according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea will be held on Thursday ... Our goal is to identify the violation of the law, to restore it and to receive the proper compensation," Zerkal wrote.
As we reported earlier, in case of the Russian Federation’s defeat in the International Court of Justice, Ukraine will demand compensation for the financing of terrorism and racial discrimination in Crimea.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Olena Zerkal noticed that the ruling of the International Court of Justice in this case may be known in 2020.
