First death from Covid-19 in Poland

A 57-year-old woman has previously suffered from severe pneumonia; her husband and daughter also showed signs of coronavirus

Polish medics reported the first fatality from the Chinese coronavirus. A woman who stayed at a hospital in Poznan succumbed to the disease, Tvn24.pl reported.

"The woman was previously sick; she was very weak. The lady was in the infection unit of the wide-profile municipal hospital in Poznan. She had very tough clinical symptoms of pneumonia; she was plugged into the artificial lung ventilation machine and put into a medical coma. She was in a stage considered grave and critical", the message says.

The woman's husband and daughter also showed signs of coronavirus; they are now at a hospital, under surveillance. 

Currently, there are 47 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Poland.

The Polish were among the first to introduce the extra sanitary control on the ground borders. Polish border guards check body temperature and collect detailed data about the travelers who must fill in a special form.

Earlier, the government of Ukraine published the regulation, which bans the visit of the educational institutions and holding of mass events to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
