A tourist from China died in France, becoming the first victim of a coronavirus in Europe. This is reported by BBC.
According to the French Minister of Health, an 80-year-old man on January 16 came from Hubei Province, the epicenter of coronavirus. He was quarantined at the hospital on January 25. His 50-year-old daughter is also infected with the virus and was hospitalized in France.
According to French Health Minister Agnes Buzyn, in addition to this woman with a diagnosis of coronavirus, five more people were hospitalized in the country. All of them are British citizens who became infected by their friend Briton while being at a French ski resort.
Outside of China, so far only three people have died from coronavirus - in Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Japan. But in China itself, the Covid-19 disease, caused by a coronavirus, has already claimed the lives of more than 1 500 people, mostly in Hubei province.
According to Chinese authorities, six doctors also died. Zeng Yixin, the vice-minister of the National Health Commission of China, said that 1102 health workers were infected in Wuhan and another 400 in other parts of Hubei Province.
