The first death from a coronavirus was recorded in the capital of China, Beijing. State-owned television company CCTV stated this, as Reuters reported.

A 50-year-old man, who visited the city of Wuhan on January 8 died, where the outbreak of the virus began, and on January 22 he was diagnosed with the infection. January 27, his condition worsened and he died.

In total, about 80 people fell ill in Beijing by the end of January.

The number of victims of the new coronavirus in China, affecting the respiratory tract and able to be transmitted from person to person, is growing steadily. According to data on Monday morning, 81 people have already died, almost 3 thousand people are sick.

Hubei Province, the epicenter of the virus, has the highest number of deaths. The mayor of the provincial capital, the city of Wuhan, which is considered the hotbed of the outbreak, warns that the number of cases across the country will increase, as about five million people left Wuhan before the city with 11 million inhabitants was quarantined.
