An 89-year-old lady passed away after being re-infected with Covid-19; this is the first such documented case worldwide. NOS reported that on October 13.
The woman also suffered from Waldenstrom's disease, a rare form of bone marrow cancer. Her immune system was damaged.
The lady suffered from fever and severe cough. She had a PCR test, and the result proved positive. Five days after that, the symptoms disappeared, and she was discharged from the hospital.
Two months after that, the patient had a new chemotherapy course. Two days after that, the symptoms resumed; she was taken to the hospital again, with another PCR test proving positive. After two weeks of staying at a hospital, the woman died.
Currently, there are 23 known cases of re-infection with Covid-19. In most cases, re-infection had less serious consequences than the original infection case.
