The first case of infection with coronavirus is observed among the partakers of the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo as NHK reported.

It is noted that the athlete received the positive test for coronavirus during a 14-day period of self-isolation after the arrival in Japan.

According to the officials, this athlete did not stay in the Paralympic village.

It is the first case before the beginning of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo that start on August 24.

As we reported, the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo will take place without an audience. The proper decision was made by organizers during the meeting with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), local authorities, and the government of Japan. About 4,400 athletes from 160 countries are going to participate in the Paralympic Games that will start on August 24. The national team from Afghanistan has canceled its participation due to the critical situation in the country.

On Sunday, August 8, the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics took place. The Ukrainian flag was carried by Lyudmyla Luzan, who received two bronze medals.
