Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint in Donbas is temporarily out of service due to the fires in the Luhansk region that caused the detonation of explosive devices next to it. This was reported by the press service of Stanychno-Luhanska district state administration.

"The fire near Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint spread to the road where people cross the checkpoint, the detonation of explosive devices occurred next to it, in connection with this Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint is temporarily out of service," the statement said.

It is noted that the employees of the checkpoint have been evacuated.

As we reported earlier, as of 07:00 am on October 1, 2020, 146 fires were registered in the Luhansk region, 82 of them were extinguished.

The fires cause a threat to 22 settlements.

"The most difficult situation has developed along the demarcation line from Stanytsia-Luhanska to Severodonetsk, where forest fires are threatening for 22 settlements," reads the message.

Rescuers add that the spread of the fire had been caused by the strong gusts of wind. 1,229 people and 204 units of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.
