As of 9 a.m. on October 8, all fires in the natural ecosystems of Luhansk region were eliminated, but units of the State Emergency Service (SES), including those from other regions, will remain on duty during October 8-9. This was reported by the Service's press center.

Today, on October 8, at 8:50 the last center of fire near the village of Smolyaninove of the Novoaydarsky area is liquidated.

According to preliminary estimates, the approximate area covered by the fire was more than 20 thousand hectares. 150 people were evacuated during the firefighting.

As we reported earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal named the sums of compensation that the government was ready to pay to the victims of the forest fires in Luhansk region: 300,000 hryvnias (10,600 dollars) for a completely destroyed house; 200,000 hryvnias (7,058 dollars) - to families who have lost relatives; 5,000 hryvnias (177 dollars) for a partially destroyed house; 20,000 hryvnias (705 dollars) if the household has been damaged.
