A deliberate arson could be among the reasons of fires that engulfed the woods in Luhansk region. Serhiy Hayday, head of Luhansk civil and military administration said so in his commentary for RBC Ukraine.
"We have to state this: a huge fire occurred. A commission wil find out why it happened. Currently, it's hard to come up with some sort of analysis, because the fire did not go away completely. It's been localized, but it's still there", Hayday said.
Besides, according to him, putting out the large-scale fire is a chalenge due to the draught, caused by the absence of precipitations in this area for a week and by stable high temperature. Strong wind gusts are also observed.
"It's draught, almost 40 degrees today. And very-very strong wind. So the flames reach our for hundreds of meters. Unfortunately, it's extremely difficult to extinguish them", Hayday said.
As is known, the fire took place in Borovske and Okhtyrske forestries next to Oskolonivka village. The fire is being put away next to the village of Kapitanove (the area of 40 hectares).
Previous reports mentioned that the works to extinguish the fire continue; meanwhile, as of Tuesday evening, the number of victims reached five.
