The Chornobyl nuclear power plant and spent fuel storage facilities are not at risk due to large-scale fires in the exclusion zone. The State Emergency Service reports.

Rescuers are working to eliminate the fire in Korohodsky, Denisovetsky, Dytyatsky, and Parishyvsky forestries.

"Firefighters of the State Emergencies Ministry continue their work. 200 discharges of 460 tons of water were carried out. Over 400 people and 100 pieces of equipment were involved in the exclusion zone, including 310 personnel and 60 pieces of equipment from the State Emergency Situations, including 3 aircraft and 3 helicopters," the message says.

As noted, the radiation background in Kyiv, Kyiv region and in the exclusion zone is within normal limits.

As we reported before, in the Chornobyl exclusion zone, the forest is burning for the ninth day. At the moment, the fire is approaching the city of Pripyat.

"The fire spread across the road walked along with the Yaniv railway station and goes to Prypiat," the message reads.

At the same time, the State Agency for Management of the Exclusion Zone duty officer reported that, as of this morning, the area of ​​fires in the Chornobyl exclusion zone has not increased over the past 24 hours.
