The fire in Chornobyl exclusion zone is put out successfully, and the radiation background is back to normal. The investigation group will get to the site to look into the incident. Viktoriya Ruban, the press secretary of State Emergency Service said so in a commentary for 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"You see, the reason of all fires in Chornobyl exclusion zone are man-made by 99 percent. People themselves burn the dry grass, which provokes forest fires. As for the Chornobyl zone, an investigation group will be working there, but according to early estimates, this is man-made", Ruban said.
According to her, the rescue teams extinguished the fire; the radiation background was somewhat increased in the area taken by the flames. However, it gradually lowered back to the normal one.
The fire occurred in the vicinities of Volodymyrivka village, Kyiv region. It captured the area of 20 hectares. The aviation of State Emergency Service was involved in the works.
