On Saturday, October 16, the fire burst out at Avdiivka coke plant in Donetsk region. A fire of overheated coke occurred on a conveyor belt on an area of ​​350 sq. m. This was reported by Ukraine's State Emergency Service press service

At 11:06 the fire was localized, at 11:23 it was liquidated. There are no casualties or injuries. 48 people and 12 units from the State Emergencies Ministry were involved in extinguishing.

Avdiivka Coke Plant (AKHZ) is the largest coke plant in Ukraine. The plant produces over 30 types of products, the main of which is coke for metallurgy. AKHZ accounts for up to 20% of the gross output of blast furnace coke in the country. In 2007, the plant produced over 3 million tons of coke. Among the consumers of AKHZ products are Ukrainian enterprises, companies from Russia, Moldova, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Turkey, Egypt and other countries.
