Fire at Pokrovska mine, Donetsk region, no casualties

The emergency occurred at about 4.50 a.m. on the mine located on Ukraine-controlled territory of Donetsk region. All 29 miners who stayed inside were timely evacuated to safety

A fire broke out on the premises of Donetsk region-based Pokrovska coal mine on early Wednesday. The flame emerged in the mine's windway, the State Emergency Service reported.

'A fire emerged at the windway No.11 of Pokrovska mine (...) in the area of Udachne village, Pokrovsky district, at about 4.50 a.m. March 27. No victims,' the message reads as posted on the website. The service reported that the emergency took place on the 815-meter horizon.

According to the authority, 29 miners stayed inside the mine when the accident took place. All of them were evacuated in good time; their lives are beyond danger.

Currently, the works are suspended on the mine's section No.5, where the fire broke out. The other sections work under the regular schedule. Four units of the Energy and Coal Ministry's mine rescue team are involved in fire extinguishing works.
