As a result of a fire at the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral, Kyiv, the interior decoration of the church and the organ were damaged. This follows from the information of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, which published a photo of the cathedral on Velyka Vasylkivska Street damaged by the flames.
The Ministry of Culture has already promised to take the investigation of the incident under personal control. Minister of Culture Oleksandr Takchenko found out the circumstances under which the fire broke out.
"The fire in the St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cathedral is a situation that requires unconditional, urgent attention and investigation. As for the details: the fire broke out during a rehearsal. The area of the fire is 80 sq. m. But the key one is, firstly, it was liquidated without casualties," Tkachenko noted in Telegram.
According to him, no significant damage was done to the building.
Now the Ministry of Culture is figuring out the degree of organ damage. The National Police joined the investigation.
