The overall area of the fire at an arsenal in Balakliya, Kharkiv region, northeastern Ukraine makes some 35 hectares. This is mentioned in the message released on the website of Ukraine's State Emergencies Service.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, 37 vehicles and 150 men have been putting out the fire at the military infrastructure object.
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko ordered to use the aviation of State Emergencies Service in order to cope with the flames.
The fire began in the afternoon on May 3. A fire rescue tank trod on an unknown explosive item, which resulted in the flame. The fire, in turn, led to a number of explosions.
According to the press service of the General Staff of Ukraine, the dry grass caught fire at 13:55 at the former technical territory of a 65th arsenal in Balakliya.
